Our project teams are cross-disciplinary and fully-integrated with strategists, researchers and designers. Our staff collaborates across all these disciplines solving interesting, complex problems spanning every industry and category.

Interaction designers at gravitytank define, design and prototype next gen interactive products, interfaces and services. We work with communication designers and product designers to create compelling, holistic and viable solutions—often applying UX and UI to physical forms and built environments.

A huge part of our job as Interaction Designers involves “making to understand” and “building to learn”. It’s our role on projects to explore, create and prototype meaningful user experiences and interfaces. Tangibility and clarity is key to communicating these design stories and for building conviction within our clients’ organizations to do new things.

Our group is technology and platform agnostic. We use whatever tools are necessary and appropriate to visualize and communicate our interaction design stories. We expect all our designers to sketch and storyboard. We prototype (with paper, software or both) and do so collaboratively with project teams and with clients themselves. Our deliverables define where products, technology and services will create the most value for end users and our clients.

Our interaction team meets every week to share project progress, trade inspiration, and demo new tools and software. Those sessions organically give way to evening and weekend collaborations and tangential experimentation.

We are interested in candidates ready to explore interaction design outside the digital agency. We do not work from traditional design and creative briefs. We solve for real-life experiences and user pain points based on powerful research insights and business strategy. We design prototypes that demonstrate what’s possible, where it’s just around the corner, or decades away. This is a deeply interesting, challenging and meaningful way to work.

If you have...

• // 3+ years designing compelling interactions for a variety of digital media (mobile, web, TV, consumer electronics, built environments)
• // significant experience throughout the entire process of an interactive project: ideation; information architecture (task flows, scenarios, wireframes); visual design (typography, iconography, color, layout); prototyping (interaction models, front-end development)
• // strong skills with design tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript, After Effects, Final Cut and practical understanding of current and emerging technologies across digital media
• // the ability to rapidly prototype through a variety of means (ranging from hand-drawn storyboards to functioning digital prototypes) to demonstrate an interaction concept in compelling ways

and like to...

• // draw design inspiration from a variety of user and secondary research (ethnographic field research, workshops, focus groups, usability testing, etc.)
• // clearly and tangibly communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale to other members of the design, project and client teams
• // engage in current and emerging technologies across digital media
• // work collaboratively with cross-functional teams comprised of creative and analytical backgrounds and through programs with research, strategy and design phases
